JOHOR BARU: The Johor state government hopes that Putrajaya will consider the suggestion made by Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar to replace the Causeway.
State Secretary Datuk Ismail Karim said Johor would leave the matter to the Federal Government as it involved bilateral ties between Malaysia and Singapore.
He said the suggestion by Sultan Ibrahim to replace the Causeway with a tunnel or swing bridge was good as it would improve the flow of seawater in Straits of Johor.
Ismail said he hoped the issue would be discussed when Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak meets his Singaporean counterpart Lee Hsien Loong in Putrajaya in May.
